BS EN 1591-4:2013 joint integrity training

This week we are back at the Isle of Grain in Kent to continue our program of delivering BS EN 1591-4:2013 joint integrity training and assessment to our client.

Bulk liquid and gas storage terminals are often overlooked regarding the upholding of strict adherence to regulatory compliance and industry guidelines. The fact that they are not ‘operating’ facilities in terms of having process units typically seen at oil refineries or petrochemical plants doesn’t mean that the same stringent procedures and guidelines such as HSG176 are any less important to follow…

If we think back to the incident at the Buncefield terminal in Hemel Hempstead, our thoughts are drawn back to that day in 2005 where the unthinkable happened. Although not directly related to mechanical joint integrity, the incident was Europe’s largest peacetime fire and a grave reminder of how equally dangerous these assets are.

All personnel responsible for breaking containment and making bolted flange joints should posses the underpinning knowledge and competency to a recognised standard.
