Welcoming Vale Base Metals

Today we delivered our Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) approved BS EN 1591‑4:2013 Mechanical Joint Integrity training course to seven employees from Vale Base Metals (Clydach Nickel Refinery) at our Bridgend training centre.

What made today particularly special was discovering that all seven delegates were former Tata Steel UK employees who had been affected by the recent re‑organisation at Port Talbot. Seeing them back in a training environment — motivated, engaged and focused on the next chapter of their careers — was genuinely inspiring.

One of the group was an ex‑Tata Steel apprentice who completed this very course with us five years ago. Another learner is someone I’ve known for many years, and it was fantastic to see them thriving again and now contributing their skills to a major process industry employer here in South Wales.

Vale Base Metals have gained a strong cohort of experienced, capable individuals who will no doubt be an asset to the #comah registered refinery. And it’s great to see talented people from our region finding new opportunities where their skills are valued.

Kudos to Vale Base Metals for their ongoing training programme with Zulu Joint Integrity & Training Ltd.

A positive day for everyone involved — and a reminder of the resilience and professionalism that runs through our engineering community in South Wales.
